Working together to listen, learn, & Act
WCASD Comprehensive Plan [2019-2022]
In the current district plan, one of the four focus areas is Access to District Programming. There is an acknowledgement that we have gaps in achievement, access, and more within our schools and community. If you are interested in seeing the action steps and objectives related to hiring diverse candidates, engaging diverse stakeholders, ensuring a culturally responsive curriculum and classroom environment, please review the entire plan.

WTE Equity Team
For the last several years, we have worked on supporting the district mission and comprehensive plan in different ways. In terms of parents, we have offered some evening sessions to discuss equity and this year started to include equity updates in our Wildcat Weekly. We know we need to increase the frequency and depth of this communication. The bulk of our work has been devoted to teacher training to both grow our capacity and our instructional practice. |

Diverse books for children
As with any book list you might find on the Internet, the information is a starting point to find something that works for you and your child. The list just narrows the scope for you. Take a few minutes to research the title a bit further or read it yourself before sharing with your child. Exposing your child to a wide range of author's and diverse characters provides you an opportunity to talk about race while expanding your child's foundation of understanding of others.
